Mom was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She and our dad met at Will Rogers High school and fell in love. They graduated together and got married right afterwards. They had their first child, Marty, then they moved to El Paso when dad joined the Army and had their 2nd child Peggy. Two years later they had their 3rd and last child, Cathi.
Jodie was a stay-at-home mother and motherhood was her calling. Her hobbies were cooking and writing letters to pen pals all over the world. She loved anything purple, drinking her daily Dr. Pepper, anything lemon flavored, reading her cooking magazines, but most of all caring for her three children. She was a very loving and nurturing mom.
Her best friend was Ruthie Brinkmeyer who lived in Texas. They wrote letters once a week to each other for over 50 years.
She had lost her father at the young age of 18, Roy Estes. In 2009 she lost her son, Marty. In 2021 she lost her husband of 68 years of marriage. She has 2 daughters, 8 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
